- We started by unbolting everything that sat on top of the carpet. We then cleaned the floor and routed our speaker wires neatly down the kick panels.
- For the extra bit of quiet we opted to use the factory style soundproofing from BROTHERS. It came precut and ready to install. We did a test fit to make sure everything was OK.
- The only cutting necessary was for the gas pedal stools, seats, dimmer switch, and seatbelt holes. After all the holes were cut, we started in the center and glued the tarpaper down with 3M’s spray adhesive.
- With the tarpaper glued in, we installed the layer of close cell foam provided with the kit. Then the cut-loop carpet kit from BROTHERS was slipped into place.
- Again we had to cut the holes for the gas pedal stools, seats, dimmer switch, and seatbelts. Make sure the carpet is in the right position before cutting anything. Using an awl we located the holes to be cut.
- We installed the sill plates first to keep the carpet from shifting while we reinstalled the rest of the interior.
- To protect our investment we also installed these floor mats from BROTHERS. With less than a day’s worth of work, our truck was so quiet it seemed to ride smoother.

i would like to know how do you measure to know if you got a large hump or a small one
For 1960-72 the large hump floor is about 5″ and is removable. The low hump floor is about 2″ and is not removable. Hopefully this will help. You can give us a call if you need clarification.
IS THIS CARPET W/O FUEL TANK I HAVE A 72-C10 NO FUEL TANK
No. It covers the complete floor underneath the seat up to the ledge the gas tank would be sitting on. We offer carpet by the yard if needed to fill extra space.
Did you guys run out of color ink?
This article is from a magazine that was printed a very long time ago. Here is a link to a more modern piece that we did on the BROTHERS YouTube Channel: Carpet Installation
I have a 1956 Chevy Panel Truck. Will this carpet installation kit work for my truck?
The front section works exactly like in a truck, the rear you will have to improvise.
How can I measure to know if you have a large jump or small jump on a 1979 c10
Well, if it’s a C10 then there’s only a couple things that would make it a large hump. Large hump = 4×4 or 4spd on the floor, Small hump = everything else.
i have two questions. how can i tell if i have a large or a small hump on a 85 blazer? and is the silver foamy insulation shown in the video included in the full carpet kit ? thanks
4 on the floor and trucks with 4-wheel drive were large hump, everything else is small hump. The padding in the video is NOT included but we highly recommend it as well as spray-on adhesive and sound deadener.
