Live Auction Highlight – 1973 GMC Jimmy 4×4

Every Thursday on our social media platforms, we highlight anauction from the automotive auction website   This month we are going to focus on the auction of a 1973 4wd GMC Jimmy.

1973-91 Blazer & Jimmy’s are following the trend set by their older brothers with steadily rising values.  1973-75 years the most desirable due to their full removable tops.  This 1973 GMC Jimmy Sierra is finished in Burnt Orange over Saddle vinyl upholstery and is powered by a 350ci V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Equipment includes a fiberglass hardtop, a Hurst transfer-case shifter, Soft Ray glass, power steering, air conditioning, towing mirrors, and a push-button AM radio. The truck is said to have been delivered new to Schaefer GMC of Butler, Pennsylvania, and reportedly remained in storage from 1986 to 2019.  This Jimmy Sierra shows 24k miles on the odometer.

Hagerty Insurance offers a free valuation tool on their website so we looked up this truck to see how it compared.  We would classify this Jimmy as a #2 (Excellent) condition. “Excellent” vehicles could win a local or regional show. Seasoned observers will have to look closely for flaws, but will be able to find some not seen by the general public. The paint, chrome, glass and finishes will all appear as excellent. No excessive smoke will be seen on startup, no unusual noises will emanate from the engine. The vehicle will drive as a new vehicle of its era would.

Hagerty Estimate: $49,400

BROTHERS Estimate: $45,000

Winning Bid: $48,000 (not including 5% buyers fee)
